• Concept

Masonry blocks are large hollow blocks with exquisite design to provide artistic appearance. The hollow space above watertable can be filled with backfill and vegetated; below the water the hollow space can provide habitat for aquatics.
  • Application

Waterfront access areas, such as river and pond.
  • Characteristics

    1. Making use of in-situ soil.
    2. Easy and rapid installation.
    3. Good resistance to erosion.
    4. Providing an artistic appearance.
    5. Providing habitats along the water.

  • Foundation Levelling

Clean the ground surface of the site. And then establish the necessary level lines.

Lay ACETex® behind and below masonry blocks to prevent loss of backfill soil.

  • Block Arrangement

Arrange masonry blocks in accordance with the design drawing.

  • Block Filling

Fill the masonry blocks below water level with fine gravel to form habitats.

  • ACETex® Wrap-around

Wrap the laid ACETex® around the backfill behind the masonry blocks for separation as shown on the design drawing.

Masonry BlockDemonstrative Case

Masonry Block Slope Reinforcement, Taiwan

The safety of the travelers was endangered by the unstable slope along the roadway. Soil loss and erosion were very likely to occur during the rainy season. Therefore, to protect the safety of the travelers, the slope was reinforced with masonry blocks. The hollow parts of the blocks were filled with the in situ soil to increase the weight of the structure and to create better resistance against the earth pressure. Also, the use of the in situ soil could reduce the use of concrete. A while after the completion of the construction, the masonry block reinforced slope is naturally vegetated, providing the travelers a safe roadway and beautiful scenery.
