Modular Block FacingEXPLANATION

  • Concept

Various types of modular block can be used as facing system for this reinforced structure to create diversity of solid appearance.
  • Application

Landscape or scenery demanded slope engineering (e.g., riverside).
  • Characteristics

    1. Diversified arrangement and appearance can be done.
    2. Making use of in-situ soil to reduce both construction cost and environmental impact.

Modular Block FacingCONSTRUCTION PROCESS

  • Foundation Levelling

Clean the ground surface of the site, and excavate in accordance with the levelling layout. Then compact the ground to the required compactness.

  • Base Leveling

Set up formwork and cast the RC foundation specified on the design drawing for the modular block facing.

  • ACEGrid® Laying

Cut ACEGrid® to the required size and lay it flat to the construction surface without any corrugation. Anchorage should be done with the anchorage interval specified on the design drawing.

  • ACETex® Laying

Cut ACETex® to required size (including the length for wrap-around purpose) and lay it flat to the construction surface. The overlap of ACETex® should follow the specification mentioned on the design drawing.

  • Modular Block Laying

Cross stack modular blocks with specifications shown on the design drawing.

  • Aggregate Backfill

Fill up the hollow space inside the modular blocks, and the space between block and the backfilled soil with fine aggregate to enhance drainage and filtration performance.

  • ACETex® Wrap-around

Wrap-around with the reserved length of ACETex®; make sure they are free of corrugation. Anchorage should be done with the anchorage interval specified on the design drawing.

  • Backfilling

Backfill soil at the back of the modular-block facing and compact properly.

  • Layer-by-Layer

Repeat step 3 to 8 to achieve the required height specified in the design drawing.

Modular Block FacingDemonstrative Case

Retaining Wall, Chipancingo, Guerrero, Mexico

The site for a residential community was situated on the crest of hill and was with huge level difference. Therefore a new foundation was required. A level platform and numerous retaining walls were needed in order to create safe residential homes. ACEGrid ® was applied to enhance the strength of the structures of many gigantic retaining walls. The retaining walls adopted the face of stacking concrete block for the purpose of aesthetic finishing. The construction time and cost of ACEGrid® retaining wall is significantly less than that of traditional concrete wall.
